Episode 22: Chūnin Challenge: Rock Lee vs. Sasuke!

  • Team 7 arrives at the exam building, nervous but determined.

  • Naruto looks up at the crowd of genin.

  • He shouts, “Listen up, everyone! I’m gonna be Hokage, so none of you stand a chance!”

  • Sakura snaps, “Naruto, shut up! You’re embarrassing us!”

  • Sasuke smirks, “Hn. Let him talk. He’ll only look worse later.”

  • Kabuto steps in, greeting them with a polite smile.

  • He introduces himself, “Name’s Kabuto Yakushi. I’ve taken the Chūnin Exams seven times.”

  • Naruto’s jaw drops, “Seven times?! What are you, some kind of loser?!”

  • Sakura scolds, “Naruto! Don’t say that!”

  • Kabuto shows his info cards.

  • He explains, “I’ve got intel on nearly everyone here.”

  • He flips one over and reveals Gaara’s details.

  • Sakura mutters, “He’s never been injured in a mission… not even once…”

  • Naruto gasps, “That guy’s a monster!”

  • Suddenly, Rock Lee drops down from the second floor, dramatic as ever.

  • He points at Sasuke, “Uchiha Sasuke! I challenge you to a duel!”

  • Naruto yells, “Hey! What about me?!”

  • Lee ignores him completely, eyes locked on Sasuke.

  • Lee then turns to Sakura, bowing deeply.

  • Lee declares, “Sakura-san! I have fallen for your beauty. Please, be my girlfriend!”

  • Sakura screams, “No way!!”

  • Naruto bursts out laughing, “Pfft! Rejected in record time!”

  • Sasuke steps forward, smirking.

  • He says coolly, “Fine. I’ll fight you. This won’t take long.”

  • Lee replies with determination, “Then let us begin!”

  • The battle starts — Sasuke activates his Sharingan.

  • He mutters, “With these eyes, I can read all your moves.”

  • But Lee’s speed is overwhelming, striking from blind spots.

  • Naruto shouts, “No way! Even the Sharingan can’t keep up?!”

  • Lee launches Sasuke upward, wrapping him with bandages.

  • Lee shouts, “Front Lotus!”

  • Sasuke’s eyes widen — he’s helpless.

  • Suddenly, Guy-sensei bursts into the scene, kicking Lee away mid-move.

  • He yells, “LEE! You must never use that technique in a simple test of strength!”

  • Lee drops to his knees, crying, “Forgive me, Guy-sensei!”

  • They hug passionately as a sunset background appears.

  • Naruto and Sakura stare in disbelief.

  • Naruto mutters, “…What the heck is going on here?!”

  • Sasuke stands up, battered, frustrated.

  • He clenches his fist and mutters, “…I need to become stronger…”

  • The episode ends as Team 7 heads deeper into the exam hall, rivals all around them.
