Episode 23: Genin Takedown! All Nine Rookies Face Off!

The classroom is silent as Naruto stares at the test sheet in horror.
He scratches his head, whispering, “What is this crap? I don’t get a single question! This is way harder than anything at the academy…”
He slams his pencil down, gritting his teeth.
Sakura peeks at him and mutters under her breath, “I knew it… Naruto doesn’t stand a chance. He’s going to sink us all…”

Ibiki walks slowly down the aisles, his sharp eyes scanning the students.
His cold voice echoes, “Remember the rules. If you’re caught cheating five times, you and your team are out.”
Naruto stiffens, sweating, “Five strikes?! That’s not fair… I don’t even know how to cheat!”

Around the room, the camera shows genin secretly using unique abilities:
- A boy adjusts his glasses, the reflection revealing a hidden scope.
- A ninja with long hair whispers softly as a teammate passes signals.
- Shino calmly releases tiny bugs, which crawl to other papers.
- Hinata lowers her eyes, activating the Byakugan, veins bulging around her temples.
- Kiba smirks as Akamaru, disguised in his jacket, signals answers by tugging his hair.
Naruto watches all this, jaw dropping.
He whispers, “Everyone’s… cheating?! Is that what we’re supposed to do?!”

Meanwhile, Sasuke smirks confidently.
He lowers his head, eyes flashing red as the Sharingan activates.
He mutters, “Piece of cake… I’ll just copy the movements of someone who knows the answers.”
His gaze follows the pencil strokes of a top student, and his hand mirrors them perfectly.
Sasuke smirks again, “Done.”

Sakura sits calmly, tapping her pencil lightly.
She thinks to herself, “These are advanced-level questions, but thanks to all the studying I did, it’s nothing. The real problem is Naruto…”
She glances at him again. Naruto is frozen, staring at the paper with wide, panicked eyes.
Sakura clenches her fist under the desk.
She thinks, “He’s going to blow it for us. If he fails, we all fail…”

Naruto grips his pencil, whispering to himself.
“No… no way. If I quit now, then Sakura and Sasuke are done too… I can’t let that happen. But if I get caught cheating, I’m finished…”
His face twists in despair.
Sweat drips onto the page.

Hinata, sitting nearby, looks at Naruto with sympathy.
Her cheeks flush as she whispers very softly, “Naruto-kun…”
He notices and turns toward her.
Hinata fumbles nervously, sliding her test slightly toward him.
She blushes harder, thinking, “Maybe I can help him… I want him to succeed…”
Naruto looks surprised but smiles weakly.
He whispers back, “…Thanks, Hinata.”
Hinata gasps and quickly hides her face behind her paper, trembling.

Time passes, more genin are caught and dragged out screaming.
Naruto grips the desk so hard his knuckles turn white.
He mutters through clenched teeth, “No matter what… I can’t give up… I won’t let Sakura and Sasuke down…”

Finally, Ibiki slams his clipboard. The room jumps.
He announces coldly, “Time for the final question.”
Everyone tenses.
Ibiki smirks, “But listen carefully… if you choose to answer and fail, you will never be allowed to take the Chūnin Exams again.”
Gasps echo through the room. Whispers spread like fire.

One nervous genin yells, “That’s impossible! You can’t make us risk our entire future on one question!”
Ibiki growls, “You may choose to forfeit. If you don’t wish to take the question, raise your hand. But if you leave, your whole team leaves with you.”

Hands start going up. Teams stand and shuffle out.
Sakura bites her lip, glancing at Naruto.
She thinks desperately, “Naruto will give up… he’ll never risk being banned forever. If he does, it’s over for all of us…”

Naruto trembles, sweat pouring down his face. His hand twitches like he’s about to raise it… but then he slams it on the desk.
He stands up suddenly, yelling at the top of his lungs.
“I DON’T CARE! I’ll take your stupid question! I’ll never give up, no matter what! Because one day… I’m gonna be Hokage! BELIEVE IT!!”

The room goes silent. Every genin stares at Naruto in shock.
Sakura’s eyes widen. Sasuke smirks proudly. Hinata clutches her hands to her chest, smiling faintly.

Ibiki studies Naruto carefully. Then he chuckles.
He says, “…Interesting. You’ve got guts, kid. Congratulations… you all pass.”
The room erupts in confusion.
Naruto shouts, “HUUUH?! What do you mean pass?!”

Ibiki explains slowly, walking the room.
“The real test was never the written questions. Those were designed to force you to cheat without being caught. And the tenth question… was about courage. A Chūnin must be able to face missions where failure means death. We wanted to see if you could endure the pressure.”

Suddenly, the windows shatter with a barrage of kunai.
Smoke fills the room.
A loud female voice cries out, “Hope you’re ready for the second exam!!”
The smoke clears, revealing Anko Mitarashi in a bold pose.
She grins wickedly, “My name’s Anko… and most of you won’t survive what comes next!”
